Electronics design and software team, Ignys, have been awarded the highly prestigious Design Team of the Year award at Elektra - the electronics industry’s biggest ceremony in over 18 months.

Fresh off the back of The AI Journal’s Global Excellence Awards, where Ignys scooped SmallSized Company of the Year, the Nottingham-based electronics design and software development firm took home this top prize.

Ignys is the brainchild of Richard Fletcher, an impassioned engineer who brought together a team of problem-solving engineers and creatives to bring great ideas to life. From helping household names to develop new products through to their Innovation with a Heart standpoint, the Design Team’s reputation is fast-becoming renowned on a global scale.

Accepting the award Poppy Sinclair said “We are overwhelmed to be receiving this award, thank you everyone! It’s incredible how far we have come in just over 4 years, growing into a team of talented software and hardware engineers. The journey has been fantastic so far, getting to work with incredible companies of all sizes and in so many different sectors means every week is a new adventure for us. We are also proud of our partnerships including with Raspberry Pi.”

Stephen Keetley, Engineering Manager thanked the Ignys team, adding “Words cannot express how proud I am to be a part of this team. It's a true testament to everyone's passion, attitude and belief.”

The company has helped their customers through these difficult times, utilising smart remote working design techniques and their Design For Availability service - enabling businesses to design projects based on the availability of parts.

And with Ignys doubling in size since the pandemic started, refusing to let lockdowns or chip shortages slow them down, electronic innovation and design remains alive and well in the heart of the East Midlands.
